Two Amazing Student Credit Cards from Capital One. There are two amazing things about these student cards from Capital One. First, they allow you to build your credit. You don’t have to have a decent credit rating when you’re getting this; it doesn’t have to be excellent or great, just a fair credit rating and potentially no credit rating because you’re a student.

If you’re 18 and in college, you can apply for these cards. You have to be either currently enrolled in college or accepted and starting within three months. So, three months before the semester starts, you can apply for these cards.

Capital One offers two different student cards with different benefits:

  • Sa One Rewards for Students: This card provides 3% cash back for dining, entertainment, streaming, and 1% cash back on all other categories. It also offers 8% cash back on Capital One Entertainment and 5% cash back on Capital One Travel. Until November 14, 2024, you get 10% off all Uber purchases and a waived monthly Uber subscription fee.
  • Quicksilver Rewards for Students: This card offers 1.5% cash back on all spending categories. It also includes the same Uber benefits mentioned above, such as 10% off all Uber purchases and a waived monthly Uber subscription fee.

Both cards have no annual fee and a $50 signup bonus if you spend $100 in the first three months.

When using these cards to build credit, make sure not to carry a balance. Pay off your full statement balance each month to avoid paying interest. Additionally, try to keep your credit utilization rate (the percentage of your credit limit you use) below 30% to maintain a good credit rating.

Remember that you can change your credit score within a month or sooner by managing your credit card balances wisely, especially if you plan to apply for other loans in the future.
