BJs Credit Card

BJs Wholesale Club Credit Card Review

I’m going to talk about the BJ’s Club Card, which is similar to a Costco or a Sam’s Club card. We’ve reviewed both of those cards, and now I’m going to discuss the BJ’s card. They offer two different membership levels, just like the others, with three percent and five percent cashback benefits. In this video, we’ll focus on the five percent cashback option.

Let’s dive into the BJ’s Club Card. There are two membership levels: a $55 membership fee for the regular membership and a $110 membership fee for their Plus Membership. These fees are current as of September 2023, but they may change.

With the five percent cashback, you’re essentially receiving three percent cashback from the credit card and two percent cashback from having their Plus Membership. To get the full five percent cashback, you need to make purchases at BJ’s and pay with the credit card.

Now, here’s what makes this card stand out:

  1. No Spending Cap: Unlike other warehouse club cards, there’s no spending cap on the BJ’s card. You can earn cashback on your entire spending, regardless of how much you spend.
  2. Bonus Categories: You’ll receive two percent cashback on all other categories outside of BJ’s, such as dining and travel. This is great because most cashback cards typically offer around two percent cashback, so it’s competitive.
  3. Gas Discounts: BJ’s offers a unique gas discount feature. With the regular membership, you get 10 cents off per gallon, and with the Plus Membership, you get 15 cents off per gallon. Depending on current gas prices, this translates to around five percent cashback on gas purchases.

Here are some examples to illustrate the benefits:

  • If you spend $25,000 per year, you’d receive five percent cashback, which is $1,250. Subtracting the $110 Plus Membership fee, you’d have $1,140 in net cashback.
  • If you spend $50,000 per year, you’d still receive five percent cashback on the entire amount, which is $2,500. After subtracting the $110 fee, you’d have $2,390 in net cashback.

One thing to note is that the cashback you earn can only be applied to purchases at BJ’s Club. It can’t be converted into cash. However, it’s still a valuable benefit.

In summary, the BJ’s Club Card offers impressive cashback benefits, with no spending cap and competitive rates on gas and other categories. It’s a great choice if you frequently shop at BJ’s or if you’re looking for a solid cashback card.
